Dylan Thomas "Loveseat"
The brief for a “loveseat” was provided by local clients to mark their marriage. The basic form was inspired by a fireside chair viewed in a house at the Museum of Welsh Life at St Fagans, Cardiff. Two chairs are joined together to form one garden seat. The backs of the seats are inscribed with some words from “Rev Eli Jenkin's Prayer” from Under Milkwood by Dylan Thomas. The carving was done by a renowned wood carver and Welsh love spoons maker. The air-dried Welsh oak (Quercus Robur) originated in Monmouthshire and was milled and seasoned on the Gower.
